Andrew Blackman is an independent dealer in Old Master paintings from the fourteenth to the nineteenth centuries. Andrew works from home in Sussex, but travels widely and can meet clients in London at short notice, and elsewhere in the world by arrangement. His stock is kept in London. He exhibits annually at Masterpiece London at the Royal Hospital, Chelsea, in late June and early July, and formerly exhibited for many years at The European Fine Art Fair in Maastricht.
Andrew finds paintings throughout the world. The overwhelming majority of his stock is discreetly sourced and fresh to the market. In other than the rarest cases, all paintings are owned by Andrew and not on consignment. These factors combine to allow exceptionally competitive prices, which remain at the same level during fairs. Andrew buys only what he likes, and everything offered by him is something which he himself would like to hang at home. Italian, Spanish, French and German paintings of the seventeenth and eighteenth century are a particular interest, but not to the exclusion of especially fine works of other schools and periods. In recent years, sales have included works by François Boucher, Jean-Baptiste Greuze, Bartolomé Esteban Murillo, Francesco Guardi, Michele Marieschi, Antonio Joli, Marco Ricci, Giambattista Tiepolo and Anton Raphael Mengs.
This website is intended to give just an overview of Andrew’s past and present stock. If you would like to know more, or would like to meet Andrew, please be in touch.
